Spring flowers

These flowers are really easy to make and make a fab room decorations or a thank you card. They are perfect for Easter and Spring time.

The Fairy carefully painted egg cartons.

Then we cut out flower shapes from coordinating card and felt.

I made 2 slits in the flower and the egg carton. Then The Fairy threaded a green pipe cleaner through to make a stem (after checking we had enough - an impromptu maths lesson). We found adding a small circle of card or felt over the top of the egg carton not only looked pretty but helped to strengthen the carton (other wise the two slits ripped and made a giant hole!)

The Fairy cut out leaves which we also threaded on. As we were making cards she wrote a message on the leaf. If you wanted a more traditional card you could always stick the finished flower onto a blank card. I think these also make a great 'get well soon present ' for someone who is in hospital.

We found that the flowers stand best in the vase if the stems were twisted together to make a bunch. Who do you think would like some home made flowers?

    1. It's from Baker Ross - its 'pearlised' acrylic paint. I've seen it in craft shops too. The Fairy loves it!

    1. I know (maybe I should drop some hints to The Papa that he could make some more!), they are perfect. We first made some for the The Fairy and The Frog's Great Grandma when she was in hospital- she loved them (they are still on her mantelpiece!)

    1. These egg cartons were the supermarket own brand (free range. They were a bit tricky top cut (The Fairy couldn't have done that bit)and it was def hard to pierce the holes needed for the stems.
