The Fairy carefully painted egg cartons.
Then we cut out flower shapes from coordinating card and felt.
I made 2 slits in the flower and the egg carton. Then The Fairy threaded a green pipe cleaner through to make a stem (after checking we had enough - an impromptu maths lesson). We found adding a small circle of card or felt over the top of the egg carton not only looked pretty but helped to strengthen the carton (other wise the two slits ripped and made a giant hole!)
We found that the flowers stand best in the vase if the stems were twisted together to make a bunch. Who do you think would like some home made flowers?
They are very cute. Where do you get that metallic paint from it's so pretty?
ReplyDeleteIt's from Baker Ross - its 'pearlised' acrylic paint. I've seen it in craft shops too. The Fairy loves it!
DeleteHow cute are they? x
ReplyDeleteLovely, and a nice idea for Mother's Day.
ReplyDeleteI know (maybe I should drop some hints to The Papa that he could make some more!), they are perfect. We first made some for the The Fairy and The Frog's Great Grandma when she was in hospital- she loved them (they are still on her mantelpiece!)
DeleteI love these. I always struggle to find easy to cut egg cartons!
ReplyDeleteThese egg cartons were the supermarket own brand (free range. They were a bit tricky top cut (The Fairy couldn't have done that bit)and it was def hard to pierce the holes needed for the stems.
DeleteThey're beautifu1 And I'd rather have these than an expensive bouquet bought from a shop!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. Home made definitely appreciated, especially by Grandparents I think...!
ReplyDeleteI'm so going to make these with my son. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty flowers. Love egg carton crafts.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing on Kids Get Crafty!

What adorable flowers! I know how we'll be using our egg cartons, once we've finished our eggs. I'll be featuring your post as part of my homemade crafts roundup from the Weekly Kids' Co-op. Thanks for sharing. xoxo P
